  1. Sandwiched between two mainstream pop albums in their discography, 's Music That You Can Dance To sees the Maels in a sonically adventurous mood, in some ways foreshadowing their highly original work in the '00s. The title track kicks things off in fine dancey form, followed by the huge cinematic sound of the Citizen Kane-influenced Rosebud/5(11).

  5. The third and mercifully last of Sparks' mid-'80s dance pop albums, the frankly disappointing Music That You Can Dance To delivered just two standouts: a remake of Russell Mael's European "Modesty Blaise" 45 and the epic single "Change" (replaced on British pressings by "Armies of the Night"). Indeed, "Change" isn't merely the album's most provocative number; it ranks among the duo's.
  6. MUSIC THAT YOU CAN DANCE TO - This is of course the highlight of the album. Incredibly upbeat and easy to groove to. Bugs me that there is no backbeat like most 80's dance tracks, but that easily forgivable. CHANGE - It's classic Sparks with their offbeat lyrics and uncommon song structure/5(11).
  7. ‘Music That You Can Dance To’ was first released in and boasts song titles like ‘Shopping Mall Of Love’ that competes with the more direct ‘Let’s Get Funky.’ One of Sparks most accessible albums, it still sounds irresistible 25 years later. Dance on!
